Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI) said it has added new features for its Sentinel V Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP).

Originally designed for self-contained current profiling and waves measurement applications, the ADCP’s functionality was recently expanded to allow for real-time applications at data rates of up to 16 Hz. Now, two additional features have been added:  an option for bottom-tracking for moving boat applications and a new utilities software to interface with TRDI’s existing VMDAS software program to simplify vessel mounted data applications.

Teledyne RDI said the five-beam Sentinel V represents its next-gen family of ADCPs, building upon the success of TRDI’s Workhorse product line (nearly 13,000 Workhorse products have been delivered worldwide, and hundreds of thousands of hours of data has been collected). With profiling ranges from <1m to >150m and a 200m depth rating, the Sentinel V ADCP is suited for a variety of coastal and upper ocean data collection applications.
