Bluefin Robotics CEO Named Fellow of ABET

David Kelly, President and CEO of Bluefin Robotics, has been elected a Fellow of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The Fellowship award recognizes individuals who have given sustained, quality service to applied science, computing, engineering or engineering technology education and to their respective professions through the activities of ABET.

“It is a true honor to be selected as an ABET Fellow,” Kelly said. “I take great pride in the work I do every day and appreciate the recognition from this prestigious organization.”

Kelly has manned the helm of Bluefin Robotics, a subsidiary of Battelle, since 2008. Under his direction, Bluefin has become a world leader in marine robotics.

Kelly currently serves as a Representative Director for ABET, and has also served as Executive Committee Member and Commission Chair for the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Previously, Kelly worked as Battelle’s Vice President of Information Technology Solutions, a position he began in 2002. He holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University; an MS in Computer Science from University of Texas at Dallas; and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The Fellow of ABET Award was established in 1988 by the ABET Board of Directors. Contributions and involvement in ABET are used as criteria to determine award winners. ABET distinguishes itself as the worldwide leader in quality and innovation in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology education.

Kelly is to receive the award October 31 at an Awards Dinner in Baltimore, Maryland.
