Babcock Wins £45 Million Contract to Maintain UK Research Vessels

The U.K. has awarded Babcock International’s Rosyth shipyard a £45 million (approx. US$56.6 million) contract to maintain its fleet of three scientific research vessels.The initial three-year contract, announced by U.K. Industry and Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani earlier this month, will see the large oceanographic and polar research vessels RRS Sir David Attenborough, RRS Discovery and RRS James Cook dock at Babcock’s state-of-the-art facilities in Rosyth, Scotland, for programmed maintenance and upgrade work. Aquaterra Names Hawkes Financial Director

engineering solutions provider Aquaterra Energy has appointed Nick Hawkes as Financial Director based at the company’s headquarters in Norwich.   Hawkes has more than four years’ experience in the oil and gas industry and joins Aquaterra having spent nearly 20 years with Babcock International Group where he latterly held the position as Financial Director for 15 years. Babcock Completes DSV Refit for Bibby

Babcock has completed a contract to undertake a substantial refit on Bibby Offshore’s dive support vessel (DSV), Polaris, at its Rosyth dockyard. The project was Bibby’s largest ever refit package and underlines Babcock’s move to expand its role in the maintenance and refitting of complex oil and gas support ships.
