.Alcatel Submarine Networks’ (ASN) DC/FO subsea power and communications solution combines subsea controls and power in a single, open-standard and standardised high voltage DC and fibre optic cable, reducing the cost and complexities involved in traditional and often more bespoke umbilical cable solutions. The same standard cross section can be used to deliver 100 kW of power over distances in excess of 300 km to any subsea production system supplied equipment.  It unlocks new capability, such as underwater drones and all-electric trees and thanks to easy to implement standardized joints

.According to Proserv, ECG offers "comprehensive visibility across cable assets as an integrated, scalable and multi-faceted single package."The technology has been initiated and driven by Proserv with support from its consortium partners Synaptec, a power system monitoring expert, and BPP Cable Solutions, specialists in subsea power cable engineering and management. The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (OREC) has also given its support to the group during the development of the solution."The CMS not only employs distributed temperature sensing (DTS) and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS)

cables being bundled alongside larger cable diameters. The reason for doing this is that the small diameter cable often does not bundle tightly enough with the larger diameter cables and can run free of the bundle when departing off of the vessel.”In this instance, NKT, a provider of turnkey cable solutions that meet the ever-growing demand for power, is using the SB-HBT on a 22mm-diameter fiber optic cable. The ‘holdback’ (holdback force is essentially a term for adding line tension to a cable) element of the device creates additional tension to control the departure speed of the cable
