in the Gulf of Mexico and on the East coast than we do on the West coast.”Dredging is an engineering, CapEx, and OpEx intensive business, and the assets to get the job done correctly, efficiently, and cost effectively take years to design and build. “You don't just go down to the local Caterpillar dealer and buy one of these things,” said Stewart with a laugh.  And as the size of the machinery has gotten bigger, driven by economies of scale, the price tag has risen exponentially too, meaning that idle machinery is a major drag on the balance sheet. Finding employment also meant

that works year-round to provide river condition data to vessel operators,” says Jason Powers, Director of Business Development for Silver Ships. “This data is essential to the safe and efficient transportation of goods up and down the Mississippi River.”The vessel is powered by twin Caterpillar C18 Tier 3 engines making 800 hp each to reach optimal speeds resulting in the prevention of research delays, which is important considering the frequent changes in Mississippi River conditions. The single Caterpillar C2.2 Tier 3 genset provides 25 ekW of electric power for Tobin’s air conditioni

on a state-of-the-art system, powered by Greensea’s autonomy, intelligence and data fusion technologies.According to Armach, distinct advantages of its hull cleaning robot include its small platform enabling it to get into tighter spaces on the hull and make it one-man-portable, as well as caterpillar tracks that are kinder to hull coatings and a non magnetic adhesion to the hull, suitable for military vessels and non steel hulls. In addition, the use of a thoroughly tested brush system that is non destructive to the hull coating with the built-in system intelligence means it won’t overwork

of tug and workboat company, Herman Sr.The Shoalbuster 3514 SD measures is 35 x 14 m with a free deck space of 150 sq. m. The vessel has a draft t of 2.85m at full tank capacity and just 2.45m at 50%, allowing it access to waters inaccessible to other vessels of a similar size and capability. Four Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines deliver a total of 3,876 bkW (5,280hp) to four 1900mm nozzles, an arrangement that contributes significantly to her shallow-water capability. And with 60 tonnes of bollard pull, she also has powerful towage capabilities.Among the many other roles which the Brutus will be capable

stranded at a depth of thousands of meters.Global Sea Mineral Resources (GSR) has been testing Patania II, a 25-tonne mining robot prototype, 4 kilometers (13,000 feet) below the surface in its concession in the Clarion Clipperton Zone since April 20.The machine, named after the world’s fastest caterpillar, became detached on Sunday from the 5km cable connecting it to GSR’s ship, but a recovery operation reconnected it and brought it back to surface late on Thursday.“We conduct these trials to better understand the challenges involved so we can continuously refine our technology,&rdquo

level of confidence that the design would be executed as planned. This also provided a better starting point for the shipyard when it was time for them to take over the design. To complete this level of design, it was required to work closely with the vendors of the major equipment. SIO committed to Caterpillar and Siemens as primary suppliers at the beginning of the project. Glosten and SIO worked closely with suppliers throughout the development of the design to address as many issues as possible before construction of the equipment started. SIO also chose ZF to supply the bow thruster and therefore

was responsible for selecting vendors and worked with mostly domestic partners. For our new projects POA will be the EPCI contractor and so we’d be integrating the main suppliers to a much larger extent into our work. Familiar companies from the oil and gas industry such as Kongsberg, Jotun, Caterpillar, Siemens, etcetera also supply their solutions to the offshore aquaculture industry. ABS will of course remain our partner for all certification and we’ll work together to further update standards. When you look at the potential for the offshore fish farm market holistically, globally, what
