Aker Offshore Wind Plans to Deploy Scotland’s First Offshore Wind Underwater Substation

ScotWind licensing process, for which Aker Offshore Wind has teamed up with Ocean Winds to submit a series of floating bids which could deliver up to 6,000MW of energy in the Outer Moray Firth. OW and AOW would use steel-based semi-submersible floaters called ‘Windfloat’, developed by Principle Power Inc (PPI), which is majority-owned by AOW and OW."It would be by far the UK’s biggest wind energy development and power millions of homes with renewable energy," the company added.Aker Solutions, a sister company of Aker Offshore Wind and a key supplier to UK wind projects, is

Offshore Wind: California's New Gold Rush

Coast Energy Authority (RCEA), a consortium of local governments, has been working to develop a wind project since 2017.  Humboldt Bay has some of the best Pacific wind resources, although that is offset by challenges with land-based connections.RCEA selected an energy team that includes Principle Power Inc. (PPI), founded in 2007 in Emeryville, CA.  PPI has developed the WindFloat, a floating foundation for offshore wind turbines, being readied for operation in Europe in 2021.  RCEA also selected Aker Solutions, the Norwegian company expert in oil and gas platforms.  RCEA&rsquo

US' First Planned Floating Wind Farm Taking Shape

;s first floating offshore wind farm are taking shape with the news that California’s Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) has selected a consortium to enter into a public-private partnership to develop the project off the Northern California coast.   The consortium is comprised of Principle Power Inc., EDPR Offshore North America LLC, Aker Solutions Inc., H. T. Harvey & Associates, and Herrera Environmental Consultants Inc. and was one of six respondents to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) issued by the RCEA on February 1, 2018.   The proposed project is a 100-150 megawatts

for wind energy areas offshore Maryland, and New Jersey in the next year/ Earlier this month, BOEM issued a lease to Florida Atlantic University for marine hydrokinetic technology testing offshore Florida to evaluate the use of turbines powered by ocean currents. BOEM has also given the approval for Principle Power, Inc. to submit a formal plan to build a 30-megawatt pilot project using floating wind turbine technology offshore Coos Bay, Oregon. The Center submitted a lease request for its wave energy test facility to BOEM in June 2013. On March 24, 2014, BOEM published the "Notice of Potential
