Swathe MBES and Laser Scanning Training Course

In January 2014, Swathe Services will work with Hydrocharting to run a multi-beam echosounder and MDL laser scanning training course with QINSy software. The five-day course will be held in Southampton starting on Monday, January 27 and finishing on Friday, January 31. Swathe Services Named HYPACK Dealer for UK, Ireland

Swathe Services announced that they are now a HYPACK dealer for the U.K. and Ireland.   This means that they can now offer HYPACK hydrographic survey software to customers purchasing R2Sonic packages and also to anyone operating within the offshore industry.   The HYPACK 2016 software system provides surveyors with all of the tools required to design surveys, process data, reduce it and generate a high quality end product.  It can be used for a wide range of tasks, from collecting hydrographic survey data or environmental data to simply positioning a vessel in an engineering project.

R2SONIC Multi-beam for Port of London Authority

EdgeTech Sonar Utilized in USS Indianapolis Discovery

U.S. Navy. The EdgeTech 2205 AUV-based sonar system is one of the many advanced underwater technology systems on-board the RV Petrel which discovered the wreckage recently. The system is integrated into a deep water autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and is used on the AUV to acoustically image large swathes of the seafloor as the AUV swims thousands of meters below the surface. The EdgeTech system is configured as a dual frequency 75 / 230 kHz side scan sonar and bathymetry providing the ability to image over 1,000 meters from each side of the AUV as it conducts its search patter in deep waters

EdgeTech Delivers Multi Phase Echo Sounder to UNH CCOM

Hydrographic Center (CCOM/JHC).     The EdgeTech 6205 MPES produces real-time, high resolution, three dimensional (3D) maps of the seafloor while providing co-registered simultaneous dual frequency side scan imagery.  EdgeTech said its Multi Phase technology allows a user to collect wide swathe, wide angle, high resolution bathymetry data that’s compliant to IHO Special Order S-44 in up to nine times water depth. This can be done at coverage rate that is at least twice that of a conventional multi-beam echo sounder and is an order of magnitude faster than using a single beam echo

Saipem Selects Tritech Sensors

system for its Remotely Operated Vehicles (WROVs).   Saipem has purchased a suite of Tritech products comprising Gemini 620pd sonars, Surface Control Units (SCUs) and Gemini Hubs, for accurate time stamped data. The Gemini 620pd sonars will run in a dual-head configuration, to provide a wide swathe of high-resolution bathymetry data. Operating at 620 kHz and a range resolution of 10mm alongside an update rate of up to 50 Hz, the Gemini 620pd is ideally suited for use on WROVs. Saipem is to deploy the system as part of their operations on the Shah Deniz Stage 2 (SD2) Project in Azerbaijan.
