Swathe Services Takes Delivery of SBG Ekinox Navsight INS

Swathe Services has recently added the SBG Ekinox Navsight to its equipment demo pool. After trials on manned and unmanned vessels operating under bridges, in harbors and offshore for hydrographic applications, the performance of the Ekinox Inertial Navigation System (INS) has been exceptional, the company reports.Its small compact subsea form factor and weight makes this system light and easy to install with portable sonar systems. ABP’s Ports in the North West Invest in New Survey Technology

ABP’s Ports in the North West U.K. have added value to their survey capabilities by adding a Carlson Merlin LiDAR scanning system. The Merlin, supplied by Swathe Services, is a vessel-based 3D mobile laser scanner system engineered for coastal, offshore and inland waterway surveying and will be used to survey infrastructure around their ports and harbors.Chris Heppenstall, Hydrographer at Associated British Ports in the North West, said, “We wanted a system that would easily fit in with our existing vessel systems so that we could survey above and below the waterline at the same time.

POJL Upgrades to SBG Marine Navsight Solution

Ports of Jersey upgraded its existing SBG Apogee-U to the Apogee Navsight Solution which has been designed specifically for marine applications. Swathe Services, who supplied and installed the original system, assisted with the upgrade and servicing by SBG Systems.The port purchased the Apogee-U high-performance Inertial Navigation System (INS) from Swathe in 2016 along with a high resolution R2SONIC Multi-Beam Echo-Sounder (MBES) to conduct Hydrographic surveys out of St Helier and for additional commercial survey operations.James Williams, Managing Director of Swathe Services, says:

Commercial Hydrographic Training with USV

Swathe Services, a Hydrographic survey support company in Hayle, Cornwall UK ran what it calls the world’s first Multi-Beam Echo-Sounder training course using a remotely operated Unmanned Surface Vessel. Hydrographic Surveying is usually done with a manned survey vessel and takes many hours to complete. 3D Mobile Laser Scanner for ABP Humber

ABP Humber continues to increase their technology for Hydrographic surveying in their ports and harbors with the purchase of a new Carlson Merlin Lidar Scanner supplied by Swathe Services.The Merlin is a vessel-based 3D mobile laser scanner system developed specifically for coastal, offshore and inland waterway surveying. Swathe Services Provides New Product to ABP Humber

Swathe Services has announced a new bespoke custom Peli-case product which has been designed to fit the surface components of an R2SONIC Multi-Beam Echo-Sounder (MBES) SIM box and Inertial Navigation System.  This product is specifically designed for use in open boats such as ABP Humber’s 5 meter RIB.  The Peli-case incorporates all the required bulkhead connectors for external cable fittings; an inverter for operating off a DC battery power and a shrouded cooling system.  As part of this small boat solution, ABP Humber also purchased a bespoke designed and built transom transducer
