Decom Offshore 2014: New Chairman

Decom Offshore 2014 - Realising Opportunities For All – takes place on Tuesday, 27 May, 2014, described by the organizers as the key event for all levels of industry to explore the major business opportunities available in offshore decommissioning and meet with the decision makers of the North Sea decommissioning industry. The conference will also see the introduction of Decom North Sea’s new chairman, Callum Falconer.

Falconer is commercial project lead at Marathon Oil, and has been an active member on the DNS board of directors for a number of years, where he has provided support and championed a number of industry initiatives including the streamlined decommissioning programme template and the Re-use project. His election follows the decision of Murdo MacIver to step down after 6 years as chair, during which time he was instrumental in the development of the organisation.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Falconer said: “Decom North Sea has firmly cemented its reputation as the recognised body for the decommissioning supply chain and this is an exciting time for me to take up the reins as chairman. It has a very clear strategy which is underpinned by adding value to the membership, facilitating a more efficient and effective future for the industry."

"The flagship event Decom Offshore is an excellent example of the outstanding work that the team does to ensure delivery of the strategy through collaborative networking events. I am delighted that one of my first tasks as chairman will be to address such an important conference.”

Bringing over 30 years’ industry experience to his new role, conference attendees can look forward to hearing Callum’s thoughts regarding the future of decommissioning and the vast opportunities for collaboration and new business opportunities that surround it.

Brian Nixon, DNS chief executive, said: “We are delighted to announce Callum’s election to post of Chairman. We have hugely valued his input as a Board Director from the Operators’ perspective and look forward to continuing to benefit from his impressive depth of knowledge and experience.

The evening prior to the conference, DNS will host a networking reception, which will take place at Aberdeen’s Maritime Museum.

Decom Offshore 2014 will take place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on May 27, 2014.
