GAC EnvironHull Reaches Third UAE Port

Following the expansion to Fujairah and Gothenburg, GAC EnvironHull is now offering its HullWiper underwater hull cleaning service at the UAE port of Sharjah.

The HullWiper, a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) underwater hull cleaning unit, uses adjustable pressure sea water jets  for cleaning, rather than brushes or abrasives, causing minimal damage to the antifouling surface. Residues and harmful marine growths captured during cleaning are discarded  in an environmentally-friendly manner, opposed to sea disposal performed in traditional methods.

The green,  clean hull cleaning solution, launched this past November in Dubai , has stretched its operations to Fujairah, UAE, and Swedish port of Gothenburg in the past two months.

Sharjah ,the latest addition to this practice, is home to one of UAE's finest deep water harbors, accommodating various styles of vessels and cargoes. Strong investment infrastructure has enhanced this port as a prevalent alternative to other ports in the Dubai region.

GAC is already established at the port, offering  a range of integrated shipping and logistics services for clients. GAC EnvironHull’s service portfolio has recently been further enhanced with the use of its JebelAli unit to the nearby port.

Simon Doran, Managing Director, said, "The expansion of  Jebel Ali's container port has generated a growing need for larger lay-by berths for vessels, in particular for short lay-ups or repairs lasting a few days. Sharjah is a natural choice for such calls, as witnessed by the increasing number of requests we have received for hull cleaning there. This latest development is a direct result of that demand."
