Red Bull Founder Buys DeepFlight Super Falcon Submersible
Hawkes Ocean Technologies said that Dietrich Mateschitz, cofounder of the energy drink company Red Bull, has ordered a DeepFlight Super Falcon submersible. The state of the art, two-person winged submersible craft is being delivered to Laucala Island Resort, on Mr. Mateschitz’ private island in Fiji.
DeepFlight Super Falcon, Hawkes Ocean Technologies’ production manned submersible, has been hailed as the Lear Jet of the oceans. Mr. Mateschitz joins a growing group of individuals, including entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and venture capitalist Tom Perkins, who have become enamored with underwater flight and now own DeepFlight submersibles. With this latest order, Hawkes Ocean Technologies is one step closer to achieving its goal of increasing human access to the ocean. The Company is planning to make underwater flight available at resort locations around the world.
Graham Hawkes, founder of Hawkes Ocean Technologies, stated, “We are delighted to be building a Super Falcon submersible for Mr. Mateschitz. It’s very fitting that the cofounder of Red Bull, a company iconic with adventure, will now be connected to sub-sea flight. From barrel-rolling with whales to flying down a wall that disappears into darkness, to cruising over shipwrecks, Super Falcon guarantees the most exhilarating adventures.”
Adam Wright, President of the Company, added, “We have worked hard over the last fifteen years to innovate the most advanced and safest submersibles available for private use. Positively buoyant with a fail-safe return to the surface; launchable from ship or shore; designed for comfort and 360 degree viewing from acrylic domes; and uniquely capable of sub-sea flight, Super Falcon is the culmination of all our work. We are so pleased that Mr. Mateschitz has recognized the quality of our products.”
Dietrich Mateschitz said, “I’m very excited to take delivery of my Super Falcon submersible, and I am looking forward to flying in the ocean and exploring the waters off of Laucala Island in Fiji. I can only imagine that underwater hydrobatics is every bit as exciting as the aerobatic flying that Red Bull has showcased all these years.”
