Nortek, a leader in Doppler-based measurements in marine environments, has opened the latest of its global network of offices in Melbourne, Australia. This facilitates access to cutting-edge Doppler instrumentation for researchers and engineers in Australia and New Zealand.

This is the company’s first office in the region, creating a strong local point of contact for sales and support. The Port Melbourne office also gives Nortek a platform from which to extend its reach throughout Australia and New Zealand, an area that has been important for the company since it was founded over two decades ago.

The team currently consists of Yarran Crichton and Harry Hughes: Yarran Crichton, Director of Nortek Australia, has many years’ experience of working with oceanographic equipment, collaborating closely with Nortek on product deployment and development. He has proven to be a valuable asset with a strong technical knowledge, offering high-level advice from a technical sales and support perspective.

Harry Hughes, Sales Engineer, recently joined the team and has ten years’ experience in various environmental consultancy roles, with a strong focus on marine-based surveys and metocean monitoring. Harry brings a wealth of knowledge and a highly professional approach.

Nortek’s product range covers four main themes: ocean waves, ocean currents, turbulent flow and subsea navigation. The company’s technology ranges from wave measurement systems to single-point turbulence sensors and oceanic current profilers.
