NHC Reflects on 25 Years of Testing and Trials

Since its founding in 1987, NHC Testing department has carried out and assisted with a variety of projects across a wide variety of disciplines and applications.

NHC chambers are capable of simulating pressure depths of up to 800bar or altitude to 50,000ft, while also creating temperature and environmental changes in wet or dry environments. This ability to create a range of variants within a safe and accredited facility has attracted customers from around the world looking to test everything from subsea modules, ROV and submarine components to aircraft assemblies and medical equipment. The chambers have also been used for various manned trials including altitude trials for athletes, equipment trials such as pregnancy tests and defibrillators for use by people who live in high altitude areas, as well as being one of the few facilities in the world to simulate hyperbaric environments for divers to carry out wet or dry welding trials.

NHC said looking back over the past twenty five years displays an impressive array of different and interesting tests and trials showing the adaptability of the NHC facility, which makes every day different and challenging for their team of skilled technicians. NHC is constantly upgrading its facility in response to customer needs and requests and recently purchased a Pressure Cycle Tester to comply with the latest American Petroleum Institute Standards, which will continue to expand NHC’s capabilities and client base.

The center’s chambers have played a crucial role for many major companies during the testing and trials of innovative and industry changing developments, as this is often one of the most important elements during the development process. NHC said it is proud to have played a part in the progression of some ground-breaking products which have changed the way in which certain industries function and looks forward to the challenges the next 25 years will bring.
