EIVA Launches New Generation of Survey Navigation
The fourth generation of NaviPac, the flagship of the software suite from engineering specialist EIVA, is to be launched at Oceanology International 2016 March 15. Visitors at the EIVA stand will be able to get a demo by the company’s NaviSuite experts and try out the software themselves. NaviPac 4 is the result of a major overhaul of the survey navigation and positioning software developed by EIVA.
Maersk Supply Service Wins Total Contract
Maersk Supply Service said it has fixed the newbuild subsea support vessels vessel (SSV) Maersk Involver for 161 days to support maintenance of the DAN F platform located offshore Esbjerg for walk-to-walk and accommodation services. The contract is expected to commence start-April 2019.Delivered in November 2017, the Stingray class Maersk Involver features DP3 station keeping capabilties and 120 modern single cabins.

Indonesian Government Buys UK-Built Submarine Rescue System
UK-based Submarine Manufacturing and Products (SMP) will provide its new submarine rescue system (SRS) to the Indonesian Navy.The SRS will be hosted on a mothership designed by independent design and engineering consultancy Houlder and delivered by its Indonesian strategic partner, BTI Defence.The three-year build contract will include the UK design and manufacture of the SRS, centered around SMP's new SRV-F Mk3 rescue submersible.

Ocean Robots Gather Live Data from Volcano Lava Flow
Two high-tech autonomous ocean robots have been deployed to capture live ocean data close to where lava is flowing into the ocean from Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano.By using Liquid Robotics’ unmanned Wave Gliders, scientists have the rare opportunity to study the effects of the lava entering the ocean, the plume it creates and the interactions of the lava and seawater directly from the surface of the ocean.
