News has just surfaced of a great white shark attacking scuba gear produced by 360Heros, a company based in Olean, N.Y. specializing in the production of 360-degree camera arrays. The incident took place while divers were filming off the coast of New Zealand for The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
What was intended to be the first-ever 360 video footage of sharks quickly sunk along with thousands of dollars in 360Heros’ equipment. Famed diver and underwater cinematographer Andy Casagrande IV looked on as the footage and scuba gear spiraled to the bottom of the ocean floor. Casagrande made 360Heros CEO and founder Michael Kintner aware of the incident via email.

A second camera was rolling to capture the incident, and the video of this incident has since gone viral, already having received more than 100,000 views on YouTube since being shared. With the video creating a buzz on the internet, 360Heros is currently offering a $5,000 reward for the return of its sunken scuba gear and the amazing content it likely contains.
