Adam Singer has been appointed to the role of Chair of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) for three years. He takes over the role from Sandra Rogers who has served on the Hydrographic Office Board for 13 years. Adam is currently Chairman of the British Screen Advisory Council, Digital Radio UK, and the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society. He is also on the Board of Trustees for The Sixteen, one of the U.K.’s leading choral groups.

WindSentinel Awaits US Navy Deployment
AXYS Technologies Inc. announced it has completed pre-commissioning of a WindSentinel platform for the United States Navy project to validate an offshore floating LiDAR wind resource assessment system. AXYS teamed up with Sound & Sea Technology (SST) as well as DNV GL to secure the U.S. Navy contract and supply the system. The LiDAR underwent an initial six month side by side testing process overseen by DNV GL in 2013.

A new acoustic release beacon has been launched by Applied Acoustic Engineering based in Great Yarmouth, U.K. The model, the omni-directional 1519, is part of the company’s 1500 Series that employs spread spectrum technology for added ‘uplink’ reliability. MMT Side Scan Sonar Survey for Nord Stream
MMT (Sweden) has been awarded a contract for side scan sonar survey and a camera based study of benthic fauna by Nord Stream AG. The scope of Nord Stream´s monitoring campaign is to assess the impact of the presence of the pipelines on the near seabed currents through the observation of potential localized scour and sedimentation. To determine seabed sediment features, such as objects, linear features, obstructions and sediment characteristics MMT will use a ROTV mounted side scan sonar system.

Eco Marine Power (EMP) today revealed details of its Aquarius Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) and announced that it will begin work related to the construction of a prototype. The Aquarius USV is being developed as a cost-effective unmanned surface vessel (USV) and will incorporate a number of technologies from EMP and its strategic partners. These technologies include marine computer systems and lightweight flexible marine solar panels.

FairfieldNodal Announces Contracts for new ZLand Nodes
FairfieldNodal has signed contracts that will put 60,000 of its new Land true cable-free nodes to work for the seismic acquisition division of a worldwide geophysical solutions company. This comes within two months of beginning manufacturing of its latest generation nodes, FairfieldNodal said. ZLand nodes are now available in two variations. The cable-free 1C model is smaller and lighter weight than before, which adds to its easy and safe deployment attributes.

Osiris Projects, part of Bibby Marine Survey Services, have issued an updated timeline with the latest time lapse footage of the Bibby Athena build, which the company said has progressed substantially since the original video was made available. Fabrication of the hull is now complete, and Bibby Athena was moved outdoors in preparation for outfitting works at the end of March. DOF Subsea Announces Several Contracts
Bergen, Norway – May 21 – DOF Subsea has been awarded several contracts totaling approximately NOK 475 million, including orders for work in Asia Pacific, North Sea and North America. DOF Subsea reported a range of contracts in what it calls the Atlantic region. Maersk Oil UK contracted DOF Subsea to perform removal and replacement with related survey work for the Dumbarton Drill Cluster Centre (DCC) flexible production riser at the Global Producer 3 FPSO located in the U.K. sector North Sea.
