Ports of Auckland in New Zealand is purchasing an IMO Tier III ready all-electric ship-handling tug with 70 tonnes bollard pull from Netherlands company Damen Shipyards as part of the company’s strategy of becoming zero-emissions by 2040. DMO Orders Damen Expeditionary Survey Boat

Damen Shipyards Den Helder (DSDH) and the Netherlands’ Defense Material Organization (DMO) procurement agency have signed a contract for the design, build and delivery of a prototype Expeditionary Survey Boat (ESB).The craft will be optimized for rapid environmental assessments and hydrographic surveys in harbors, river mouths, shallow waters, coastal areas and shipping channels.The craft will be manned by four persons; two to crew the boat and two technicians to operate the hydrographic equipment, and will be able to spend up over 60 hours continuously at sea at her survey speed of 5 knots.

HHC Takes Two from Damen

Hung Hua Construction (HHC) of Taiwan placed an order for two of Damen’s latest fast crew supply vessel; the FCS 2710. WSA Koblenz (WasserSchiffahrtsAmbt) awarded Damen Shipyards Group a contract to build a new diving bell ship, a vessel which will succeed an existing vessel – the Carl Straat, which has been in operation since 1963. Angola’s New Fishery Research Vessel Delivered

Damen Shipyards Galati has made provisional delivery of the 74-meter fishery research vessel Baía Farta to the Angolan Ministry of Fisheries. Damen Floats Out Australian Icebreaker

Shipbuilder Damen said it has floated out the Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV) RSV Nuyina currently under construction at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania.The carefully executed procedure was achieved by raising the water level in the yard’s dry dock by six meters; a process taking two days to complete. Damen Starts on Dredging System

Damen began work on the construction of a dredging system for the first Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). This vessel, which is being built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania for Cemex UK Marine Ltd., is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed at depths of up to -55 meters.According to the builder CEMEX asked Damen to develop a system with no inboard dredge pipework, something which has never been done on a vessel of this size before. The thinking behind this was to avoid the possibility of the abrasive dredged material creating wear holes in the inboard dredge pipework on board
