Danish power cable maker and services provider NKT has commissioned OSBIT, a U.K.-based original equipment supplier, to design and build the NKT T3600, set to become the world’s most powerful subsea trencher.To meet the high demand for high-voltage power cables needed for renewable energy, NKT is investing in manufacturing and installation capabilities, including the NKT Eleonora, a new cable lay vessel that can lay heavier and longer-length power cables.NKT is now also investing in enhanced cable protection technology with the construction of the world’s most powerful subsea trencher

US Firm Debuts 20K Intervention Solution at Gulf of America Deepwater Field

Texas-based subsea oil and gas equipment supplier Trendsetter Engineering has marked the first deployment of its Trident 20,000 psi (20K) intervention system at Beacon Offshore’s Shenandoah project in the Gulf of America.The Trident 20K intervention system was deployed from Transocean’s Deepwater Atlas drillship for a two-well flowback operation at the deepwater Shenandoah project.Trendsetter wet-hopped the Trident 20K system between wells, significantly reducing operational costs and saving the client several days of critical path rig time.  The system has since returned to Trendsetter

HII Scoops Order for Remus 620 UUV from International Client

Global defense equipment supplier HII has received an order for a REMUS 620 unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) from an international customer in the Indo-Pacific Region.The customized, medium-class REMUS 620 UUV will be built and delivered in 2024 by HII’s Mission Technologies division and will be used for monitoring and data collection missions.Unveiled in 2022, the REMUS 620 has a battery life of up to 110 hours and a range of 275 nautical miles, providing unmatched mission capabilities for mine countermeasures, hydrographic surveys, intelligence collection, surveillance and electronic warfare.

Halliburton, Baker Hughes Beat Profit Estimates as International Demand Offsets Weak N. America

Osbit Delivers Swordfish Trencher to Jan De Nul

UK-based offshore equipment supplier Osbit announced it has delivered a new subsea trenching vehicle to Luxembourg offshore and marine services company Jan De Nul.The high-powered vehicle, named Swordfish, is a purpose-built cable burial tool for the protection of the subsea cables that will be used on current and future wind farm projects. Swordfish is powered by 1200kW of subsea electrical power, using a combination of direct drive and hydraulic distribution.The vehicle can be quickly reconfigured into either jetting (high powered water fluidization of the seabed) or mechanical chain cutting modes

Sonardyne to Go Carbon Neutral by 2025 End

Marine technology equipment supplier Sonardyne has set a target of becoming carbon neutral by the end of 2025.Sonardyne said the commitment makes it the first company of its type in the UK subsea industry to publicly announce such a target.The goal covers direct and indirect emissions, including those associated with manufacturing as well as supply chain activities, from its UK sites and operations. TechnipFMC to Split into Two Companies

Franco-American oil services firm TechnipFMC Plc said on Monday it would spin off its engineering and construction operations into a separate company, leaving it as a technology-focused equipment supplier to oil and gas companies.TechnipFMC, which had a market capitalization of $10.31 billion, said the new Paris-based company will deal with onshore and offshore oil and gas projects.
