Kraken Adds Offshore Exec Sam Allen as Advisor

Canada-based Kraken Robotics announced that it has hired longtime offshore industry executive Sam Allen as a strategic advisor to help the marine technology company refine its strategy for the international offshore energy market.Allen was President of Technip Canada from 1997 to 2012 and headed up Technip Oceania from 2012 until he retired from Technip in 2018.At Kraken, he will focus on landing additional pilot projects and converting pilot projects to longer-term recurring revenue contracts, the company said, adding this may include collaboration with additional industry partners as well as M&A

Kawasaki Heavy Orders Corvus' Blue Marlin Energy Storage System

Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has ordered the first commercial unit of a new Corvus Energy high-density lithium-ion capacitor energy storage system (ESS) Blue Marlin.According to Corvus, which plans to market the system to the offshore energy market, the Blue Marlin uses lithium-ion capacitor (LiC) cells that sustain very high charge/discharge rates of 550 C peak and 200 C continuous, enabling both energy recapture and fast discharge for high-power load handling. MetOcean System Ordered for Dudgeon Wind Farm

Miros, a supplier of weather and wave monitoring products and oil spill detection systems for the global offshore energy market, has been awarded a contract for delivery of a MetOcean system to the Dudgeon offshore windfarm project. Miros' scope of supply includes a complete meteorological system, including SM-050 WaveRadar for wave monitoring. The MetOcean system will be located at an offshore substation to collect weather data for the whole windfarm. The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm will be built in water depths of 18-25 meters, located 32 kilometers off the coast of North Norfolk, U.K.
