Imaging particle analysis instrumentation manufacturer Fluid Imaging Technologies, Yarmouth, Maine, has appointed oil field technology veteran Stephen Bowen as director of sales, oil and gas markets.

Formerly serving Nabors Industries and Well Enhancement Services in executive positions managing a range of oil field technology products, Bowen will be responsible for spearheading sales growth for the company’s FlowCAM® fluid particle imaging instrumentation in the oil and gas industry worldwide.

The FlowCAM product line automatically detects, images, measures, differentiates and identifies individual particles in a fluid such as oil droplets and solids in produced water or frack water, drill bit cuttings, weighting material, and lost circulation material suspended in drilling mud.

“Steve brings a unique understanding of the role technology can play in improving every facet of oil field operations,” says Kent Peterson, president and CEO. “With Steve’s expertise and the literally feverish level of interest in the FlowCAM product line that we’re seeing, I’m very confident in our ability to serve and assist people in this industry.”

The FlowCAM hydrocarbon instrumentation is currently involved in calculating oil in water concentration in real-time, characterizing upstream fluids and rapidly identifying fossilized microorganisms in returned drilling fluids, among other onshore and offshore applications. The particle analysis system is in use by Apache Corp., the U.S. EPA, U.S. Naval Research Labs, and the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India, among hundreds of other organizations worldwide.
