Fugro’S SAGE Profile on Display at OPT 2015

Fugro GeoConsulting said its SAGE Profile subsea pipeline analysis software will be much in evidence at the end of this month during OPT 2015 - Offshore Pipeline Technology Conference (Amsterdam, February 25-26) and at the preceding seminar on Pipeline Global Buckling Design (February 24).

SAGE Profile team members will deliver presentations, and in the exhibition delegates will be able to see a demonstration of the new SAGE Profile 3.0 software, and meet with Fugro’s geotechnical and pipeline experts at their stand.

Senior pipeline consultant, Filip Van den Abeele and Geotechnical software engineer, Frederique Boël, will present on ‘An Integrated Numerical Approach to Design Offshore Pipelines Susceptible to Lateral Buckling’ and Senior project engineer, Prigiarto Hokkal Yonatan will present on ‘Numerical Simulation of Upheaval Buckling using Intelligent Backfill Soil Springs’ at the February 24 seminar.

“The new version of SAGE Profile will be officially released in summer 2015 and will be a major upgrade, providing several advanced modeling capabilities (such as stability of buried pipes, fully bonded pipe-in-pipe systems) in a new graphical user interface. We are eager to allow OPT delegates a ‘sneak preview’ of what will be on offer,” explains the SAGE Profile team.

The new version will offer a seabed modification module, allowing users to fill gaps in the seabed profile, or cut steep slopes for free span rectification. Additional introductions include an “intelligent” backfill soil spring which enables the prediction of the susceptibility of buried pipelines to upheaval buckling. The new trenching module will allow simulation of the process of cutting the seabed, lowering the pipeline into the trench, and subsequently backfilling.

The use of object contact allows modeling of seabed sleepers, pipeline crossings or concrete mattresses. Additionally the new release will offer the ability to model fully bonded pipe-in-pipe systems.
