Lynntech Passes Electrode Testing Milestone

Lynntech, Inc., a business technology development company based in College Station, Texas, announced the achievement of a 500-hour testing milestone for specialty electrodes designed for use on the Influence Sweep System (ISS) for the Navy's Unmanned ISS (UISS) that it expects to procure in the spring of 2014.

Currently, existing electrode materials used in the UISS cable suffer short lifetimes resulting from severe corrosion and degradation. Lynntech Inc. said it has demonstrated improved corrosion resistance for alternate electrode materials for use in the UISS cable. These alternate electrode materials have been corrosion tested at 170% anticipated use in seawater for 500 hours with no signs of corrosion or degradation. These alternate electrode materials offer a major increase in cable lifetime and lower total costs to the Navy.

Lynntech is part of the UISS solution being offered by General Dynamics Land Systems of Westminster, Md. along with Atlas North America of Virginia Beach, Va.
