PREVCO Subsea, LLC, a subsea engineering consultancy specializing in submersible pressure vessels, instrumentation housings, junction boxes, pressure relief valves and other subsea enclosures and accessories, announced that it is increasing its pressure testing capabilities.

Following its move in April 2014 into a 30,000 square foot facility, the Prevco team is expanding the new building to add a new 15,000psi hydrostatic chamber which had to be lifted in through the roof.

The installation took place last December and involved the vessel being lifted by two cranes one, a 97-ton crane and a second, 297 ton crane, one of the largest cranes available in the area, maneuvered the vessel into a vertical position for lifting. The vessel was raised above the building and lowered through a hole in the roof, finally coming to rest on a specially designed mounting stand.

Following the lift, there was an official christening to celebrate the successful installation.

Some work remains before the test tank will be fully commissioned, but PREVCO’s expectations are that it should be operational by the end of February 2015.

The new vessel joins two other test tanks and increases the in-house pressure testing capability and services offered to outside companies needing pressure testing, PREVCO said.
