Hydroid, Kongsberg Launch New Offshore Survey/Exploration AUV

Hydroid, Inc., a manufacturer of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), in partnership with its parent company, Kongsberg Maritime, announced the release of the new Munin AUV. Designed jointly by the two companies, the Munin combines the size and deployability of the Hydroid Remus 600 AUV with the navigation systems and user interface of the Kongsberg Hugin AUV to give offshore users a capable and reliable solution for their survey and exploration needs.

MacGregor to Deliver Two Arctic Subsea Cranes

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order for two MacGregor active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore cranes from a Turkish shipyard for a new subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) and construction vessel for a Norwegian owner. A 250 and 15-metric-ton MacGregor subsea crane will be installed on the 129-meter vessek. The 250-metric-ton unit will have its winch installed below the working deck and will also feature wire rope integrity software.

Swedish Defense Orders More Saab Torpedos

Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab announced it has received an order from the Swedish Defense Material Organization (FMV) for the next phase of the life extension program of Torpedo 62. CGG Kicks Off Northern North Sea Survey

CGG, a France-based provider of seismic data for oil and gas exploration and production, has kicked off a new multi-client 3D survey in the Northern North Sea. The survey will provide a second azimuth over CGG’s existing Northern Viking Graben (NVG) multi-client 3D survey and extend into open acreage on offer in the UK 32nd License Round.The new survey will acquire approximately 2,000 sq km of additional data in an E-W direction.

Collins Engineers Donates ROV to UW-Milwaukee

With the goal of enriching students’ educational experiences and enhancing the research capabilities of marine scientists on the Great Lakes, Collins Engineers, Inc. (Collins) has donated a Phantom-300 remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee School of Freshwater Science (SFS), located at the Great Lakes WATER Institute.
