Marine instrumentation manufacturer Valeport has introduced a new pressure sensor to its range.

The ultraP is the next generation of pressure sensor to be developed by Valeport, which has over 40 years’ expertise in the design, manufacture and integration of precision oceanographic instruments.

Redesigned from the connector up, the ultraP offers a smart and exchangeable pressure sensor, which is ultra fast, compact and dependable providing levels of performance that are demonstrably ahead of competitor products.

Suited to system integrators and OEM applications, the new ultraP has been designed to allow users to maintain the best possible accuracy with the facility to select the depth rating that best suits the user’s operational depth, with options from 10 through to 600bar.

The pressure sensor, housed within the ultraP’s titanium casing, is a temperature piezo-resistive sensor, which delivers the performance previously only available from a resonant quartz sensor.

It also brings the added advantages of long-term stability, allowing longer intervals between calibration and the ultraP’s smaller, more robust construction ensures complex and vulnerable arrangements of diaphragms and oil filled capillaries and reservoirs are therefore no longer necessary.

Kevin Edwards, Valeport sales and marketing manager commented, “The ultraP marks a real step-change in pressure sensor development.  The superior sensor design and performance offers users greater flexibility with increased reliability, less downtime and higher productivity. “

The ultraP can be recalibrated by customers using a Class A deadweight tester.
