Subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has recently commenced work with Maersk Oil UK on a multimillion pound contract that will see Bibby Offshore provide subsea construction and inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services to all of Maersk’s North Sea assets. Dive Support Vessel (DSV) Bibby Sapphire will undertake the offshore execution work, and an extensive engineering project management team based onshore will support this.

“We have successfully completed contracts for Maersk Oil in the past and we are delighted to continue our working relationship. This contract demonstrates confidence in our ability to deliver complex and challenging subsea projects,” said Barry Macleod, Managing Director UKCS of Bibby Offshore. “2013 was an extremely successful year for Bibby Offshore and the business is expanding rapidly, with our restructure of our management team we have put in a strong foundation to support further growth and to continue to offer the commitment and expertise to our clients.”

Engineering work for this project commenced in quarter three of 2013. The initial work scope will see Bibby Offshore complete well tie-ins, decommissioning, support for flow line connection and disconnection, and IRM activities in support of Maersk Oil’s Gryphon and GP3 Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) Units and the Janice Floating Production Unit (FPU).

Bibby Offshore has a long track record of IRM services and construction work for Maersk Oil with the Gryphon Area Reinstatement Program. Bibby completed extensive installation and tie-ins of flexible and control jumpers, with pre-commissioning and testing carried out to connect the Gryphon ‘A’ FPSO.
