UK-Denmark 1.4GW Subsea Interconnector Starts Operating

;1.7 billion) link stretches for 475 miles between UK and Denmark, and has the capacity of 1.4 GW. The link connects Bicker Fen substation in UK’s Lincolnshire with Revsing substation in southern Jutland in Denmark. The project is a joint venture between National Grid and Danish System Operator, Energinet, and has the capacity to transport enough electricity for up to 2.5 million UK homes, bringing over ($632 million) £500 million of cumulative savings for UK consumers over the next decade due to cheaper imported power from Denmark.Construction on Viking Link, National Grid’s sixth interconne

Fugro to Provide Floating Wind Lidar Measurements for Danish Offshore Wind Projects

Danish transmission system operator Energinet has awarded the Dutch offshore services firm Fugro a new contract to provide floating wind lidar measurements for five offshore wind projects in Denmark.Fugro will install and operate ten SEAWATCH Wind Lidar Buoys across three main locations, namely the Kattegat Sea, Baltic Sea, and North Sea. These buoys will provide real-time metocean and environmental monitoring data to support investment decisions for offshore wind farms.Denmark has set a goal of deploying 12.9 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.Starting in summer 2023, Fugro's SEAWATCH Wind

Fugro, MMT Tapped for Seabed Mapping Work at Danish Wind Energy Hub in North Sea

Dutch offshore survey firm Fugro and Sweden's MMT have won contracts with the Danish grid operator Energinet, to carry out seabed surveys for the Danish Energy Island project in the North Sea.The contracts follow an announcement by the Danish authorities in February that the country would build the first of its kind wind energy hub in the North Sea that promises to produce yet unseen amounts of green electricity, in what has been described as the largest construction project in Danish history. The energy hub - an artificial island - will serve as an offshore power plant gathering and distributing

Siemens Wins Viking Link Gig

.Viking Link will enable the exchange of up to 1400MW of electricity to provide increased power-supply reliability and security to consumers in both countries, and will support the integration of renewable energy. The interconnector is being jointly developed by National Grid Ventures (Great Britain) and Energinet (Denmark) via National Grid Viking Link Ltd. and Energinet Eltransmission A/S. Viking Link is scheduled to begin commercial operation at the end of 2023.The two converter stations, one in Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, in the UK, and the other in Revising in southern Jutland, in Denmark, will be linked
