Venezuela: Trinidad and Tobago Oil Spill is Detrimental to Environment

Venezuela's government said on Friday that an oil spill originating from Trinidad and Tobago is putting fishing as well as the environment at risk."This event exceeds in magnitude the one that occurred in May and confirms the drift of pollutants toward Venezuelan waters," the government said in a statement without providing further details on the extent of the spill, which it said was confirmed by satellite imagery.Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil asked Trinidad and Tobago in May for compensation for another oil spill that had affected areas in the far east of the country.

ExxonMobil Enlists Shearwater for 3D Seismic Survey in South America

Offshore seismic services firm Shearwater Geoservices has secured a contract for a large 3D seismic acquisition program for ExxonMobil Trinidad and Tobago Deepwater.The deepwater survey offshore Trinidad and Tobago will cover approximately 6,000 square kilometers of full-fold area.The acquisition is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026 and is expected to take around five months.Shearwater’s streamer vessel Amazon Warrior will undertake the acquisition, utilising its multi-component Isometrix streamer technology.The project is expected to deliver high-quality seismic data to support

Shell Hires Subsea7 for Work at Aphrodite Development off Trinidad

Subsea 7 has secured a contract by Shell for the Aphrodite gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago.The project involves the transportation and installation of subsea equipment at the Aphrodite development, located within Block 5a, at water depths of up to 290 meters.Project management and engineering activities will begin immediately at Subsea7's office in Houston, Texas, with offshore operations planned for 2027.The contract has been defined as sizeable, which for Subsea7 means its value ranges between $50 million and $150 million.To remind, early in June Shell reached the final investment

TGS Gets Shallow-Water OBN Job off Trinidad

Norwegian seismic firm TGS has secured a shallow-water ocean bottom node (OBN) acquisition contract offshore Trinidad.The 3D baseline contract is scheduled to begin in early third quarter of 2025.The total duration of the survey is approximately 80 days."Our OBN technology continues to be the preferred choice of the industry and exposes TGS to clients’ production budgets and asset optimization initiatives. TDI-Brooks Completes Trinidad Geotechnical Project

TDI-Brooks reportst that it "effectively and safely" carried out a third-party geotechnical coring project for Geohidra. This operation was conducted from the DRAGON Field to the HIBISCUS platform off the coast of Venezuela and Trinidad aboard the DONA JOSE II (DJII). Throughout this campaign, TDI-Brooks performed a total of eighteen (18) Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) utilizing their Neptune 3,000 miniature coiled rod CPT system, achieving penetration depths between 3.25 and 6.25 meters in water depths of 130 to 150 meters. Trinidad and Venezuela Set to Launch Seismic Survey at Joint Gas Fields

Argeo Lands Woodside Energy’s Calypso Survey

Norwegian offshore services company Argeo has signed a contract with Woodside Energy to conduct a geophysical survey for the deepwater Calypso field in Trinidad and Tobago.The autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) survey work will be carried out by Argeo Searcher vessel, starting in the third quarter of 2024.The project will occupy the vessel for approximately 60 days, not including any additional work.The Argeo Searcher is a DP II vessel, equipped with modern diesel electric propulsion.
