Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and manufacturer of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), today announced its open enrollment training schedule for 2014. Training will focus on basic operations and maintenance as Hydroid’s highly-experienced technicians walk participants through all aspects of the REMUS 100 system.

The goals of the REMUS-100 Enrollment Training Program are to provide an intensive, five-day program designed to provide a limited number of attendees with a thorough understanding and the hands-on operational experiences required to successfully operate and maintain the REMUS system. The training is designed for a variety of skill levels, from beginners to experienced operators looking for a refresher. All participants will come away from the program with the skills necessary to properly operate the REMUS system. Hydroid also offers customized two- to 10-day training sessions based on customers’ unique training needs.

The 2014 schedule is as follows:

  • May 12-15 – Pocasset, Mass., U.S.
  • June 23-27 – Dorset, U.K.
  • September 15-19 – Pocasset, Mass., U.S.
  • October 6-10 – Dorset, U.K.

Hydroid's REMUS AUVs are modular; they can be fitted with a large number of different sensors and have been used to aid in hydrographic surveys, harbor security operations, debris field mapping, scientific sampling and mapping, as well as many basic and applied research programs funded by ONR, DARPA and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense. With more than 290 vehicles in the field, Hydroid is currently the AUV market leader with systems in use by 16 navies around the world.
