The annual Association of Marine Scientific Industries (AMSI) Business Person of the Year Award was presented to Roger Scrivens, Founder and Managing Director of RS Aqua Ltd., by Richard Burt, Chairman of the AMSI Council of the Society of Maritime Industries, at a special ceremony during the conference “Catch the Next Wave” on Monday, March 10, 2014.

“This award is designed to recognize the individual which in the opinion of the adjudicating panel has made a significant contribution to the business of marine science and technology in the U.K.,” Burt said. “Scrivens has worked in the oceanographic and instrumentation industry for 40 years, 31 of which at the head of his company.  Even in a company with this long pedigree, Roger’s entrepreneurial spirit is undiminished and the company has seen significant growth this last year, with the introduction of a calibration and service centre, major additions to RS Aqua’s portfolio and extensions to premises as well.”

Burt continued, “Roger continues to show the drive and ambition of a much younger man in the way that he continues to develop innovative approaches to supporting the oceanographic community.  Coupled with the high regard with which he is held in the marine science and technology industry the AMSI Council is convinced Roger is a worthy recipient of the AMSI Business Person of the Year Award.”

Scrivens said, “I am honored and flattered by this award, the announcement of which came as a complete surprise to me. I value the work of AMSI immensely and am proud to have my name added to such an esteemed list of previous recipients.”
