Phoenix Welcomes New Project Manager for AUV Division

Phoenix International Holdings, Inc. announced that Scott Hansen has joined the company as Project Manager (PM) for the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Division.Scott brings to Phoenix 20 years of experience in Marine Engineering and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), working in the research, scientific, biological, and oceanographic industries across the globe. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering Technology from Maine Maritime Academy and spent six years in the merchant marine industry holding positions from Assistant Engineer to Superintendent Engineer.

Phoenix Divers Complete Underwater Inspection at Talos' Thunderhawk Platform

A commercial dive crew from Phoenix International Holdings recently completed an underwater inspection in lieu of drydocking (UWILD) for Talos Energy on the Thunderhawk platform at MC-736-A in the Gulf of Mexico.Using a deep air package and a dive crew consisting of six divers, six tenders and one supervisor, Phoenix worked 16-hour days diving nonstop for 36 days and completed 164 dives (155 Sur/D O2 dives and 8 No/D). Completed tasks included magnetic particle inspection (MPI) of 119 welds, close visual inspection (CVI) of 300 welds, and general visual inspection (GVI) of 200 welds.Jon Regh, Houston

Phoenix Dive Crews Wrap Up at Baltimore Bridge Wreck Site

Phoenix International Holdings, Inc. reports it dive crews have completed their work at the site of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.Phoenix said it was contracted by DonJon Marine for diving support in their cleanup and salvage operations shortly after the containership Dali lost power and struck the Maryland bridge in March, killing six people and destroying the Patapsco River crossing.Phoenix Bayou Vista quickly mobilized a 10-man dive team and dispatched its containerized diving systems with chambers and various required equipment to Baltimore to aid in this endeavor. Phoenix Upgrades Dive Tank at VA Facility

Phoenix International Holdings has completed a year-long project at its Chesapeake, Va., location to refurbish and upgrade an underwater welding tank. The 20-ft. deep x 10-ft. wide, 11,750 gallon, fully operational dive tank which has been sandblasted and painted and boasts interior and exterior modifications including a new observation window, new steps, a dive station platform, and an upgraded water filtration system.This tank will support underwater welding training for NAVSEA procedures, commercial American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) welding certifications, and underwater testing of electrodes that

Phoenix Wins $112 Million Navy Contract

Phoenix International Holdings Inc. announced it has been awarded a $112 million cost-plus-award-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for worldwide undersea deep ocean search and recovery operations and engineering and technical support to the U.S. Navy Director of Ocean Engineering, Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV).
