INS to Help Manned Sub Explore Andrea Doria Wreck
OceanGate, a provider of manned submersible services, and iXBlue, a provider of navigation, positioning and imaging solutions, have partnered to expand the application and use of advanced marine navigation and sonar equipment to explore the world’s deep oceans. As part of the alliance, OceanGate has selected the iXBlue PHINS Inertial Navigation System for use aboard its fleet of Cyclops series manned submersibles.

JASCO Applied Sciences and Teledyne Webb Research have teamed to deploy a Slocum G3 underwater glider fitted with JASCO’s OceanObserver intelligent acoustic monitoring system in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.With the support of Dalhousie University and the Ocean Tracking Network, the glider was deployed September 15 in the Orpheline Channel on a six-week test mission to attempt to detect and record North Atlantic right whales.

Expansion Underway at Hydro Group
Aberdeen-based subsea cable and connector specialist Hydro Group, has expanded its premises by investing £2 million in a new 13,700 sq ft bespoke facility, set to open in spring 2016. The company currently occupies a 45,500 sq ft facility at the Aberdeen Energy Park, purchasing the additional 0.63 acres of development land from Buccleuch Property and Moorfield Group (Buccmoor LP) to enable it to expand operations and develop a brand new workshop with mezzanine deck.

Kongsberg Tech Package for Sweden’s New Subs
The Swedish Navy together with SAAB Kockums AB has selected an active sonar suite and bottom navigation technology from Kongsberg Maritime for installation on two next generation A26 submarines, which are due for delivery no later than 2022.
